How Important is Colon Cleansing?
There are two colon cleansing methods. One can either have colonic irrigation or buy one of the multiple products that help expel the contents of the colon. Using colonic irrigation, also known as high colonics, is a method of colon cleansing that involves a low-pressure pump or gravity-based reservoir flushing several litres of water through a small tube into your rectum, while you lie on your side. Once enough water has been flushed into your colon, your therapist may massage your abdomen before you release the water in the same way you would a regular bowel movement. The process can be repeated, with one session lasting up to an hour, flushing out all of the fluids and waste. Your therapist could use a varying degree of water temperatures and pressure, and may combine water with probiotics, herbs, coffee, or enzymes. Colon cleansing using bought liquid or powdered supplements can either be taken orally or through the rectum. These products include magnesium, herbal teas, enemas, laxatives, and enzymes and are taken for the purpose of expelling the colon’s contents.
What are the Benefits of Colon Cleansing?
The idea of colon cleansing is that toxins enter the body through the food you eat as well as through the environment, so that colon cleansing removes these toxins, making you feel better and improving the functioning of your body. The goals of colon cleansing are to improve the immune system, lose weight, reduce the risk of colon cancer, and to improve your mental outlook through improving the functioning of your colon.
Why is a Healthy Colon Necessary?
Your digestive system plays a vital role in your immune system, and thus overall health. A poor diet, including processed foods, alcohol and caffeine can cause the digestive tract to produce layers of mucous on the walls of the colon in order to protect itself from the toxins present in these foods. However, these mucous layers also prevent your body from absorbing any nutrients present in your food. Furthermore, these foods have a low fibre content and can thus putrefy in the gut, causing bacterial growth and, as a result, issues like bloating, gas, skin problems, and headaches. Colon cleansing flushes out this decaying matter as well as the mucous layers, thereby restoring the colon’s health.
Because the digestive system is responsible for what nutrients are absorbed into the body, it thus plays an integral part in the health of your entire body. If your gut is not functioning optimally you can have an overactive immune system, which results in inflammation throughout the body, and thus a variety of ailments. It is therefore very important that the health of your colon is a main priority and that you look after it.
If you are considering colon cleansing to maintain the health of your colon, consult your doctor so that you can learn about all the benefits of the process and the best method for your body. Moreover, should you have any questions about colon cleansing, you can address these with your doctor.
